Embrace Your Journey

Have you ever stared into the sky, feeling a twinge of existential anxiety? Wondering, “What is my purpose here on Earth?” We’ve all been there. Life can feel preordained, a series of choices leading us down predetermined paths. But what if there’s more to it?

In life, we are sometimes forced to make decisions that change our lives. In some instances, we knew the pros and cons of our decision. We chose to take a risk and gamble with our life. Then there are times when we did not see it coming; blind-sided by the unexpected. It doesn’t matter what you decide to do, our intuition always guides us toward self-reflection. Whether it is a positive reflection or a negative one, it takes us back to a moment of decision. I have learned that some of my actions intended to protect others resulted in my losses. I didn’t want to hurt feelings or see others fall. I had to take accountability for those decisions and focus on myself. Sometimes, those decisions that brought pain were blessings. It forces you to face it head-on and grow from it.

Here’s what I’ve learned: life is a journey, not a script. Sure, there are twists and turns, but we have the power to influence them. It’s okay to accept that we can’t please everyone. There’s a freedom in that. You have permission to favor yourself sometimes. I have gotten a little more relaxed by not overextending myself like I used to.

I used to be a people-pleaser. My life revolved around making sure everyone else was okay, leaving my own needs on the back burner. But eventually, I realized I was blocking my opportunities. Fear held me back, the fear of “what ifs” and the unknown. I am taking leaps of faith and being okay with the outcome, win or lose.

But guess what? There’s never a perfect time to step outside your comfort zone. There will always be voices telling you to stay safe, to play it small. The truth is, that growth happens when we leap. You eventually get a sense of relief when you step out on faith to find out the outcome.

So, how do we break free and find our path? Here are some tips:

  • Self-Compassion: We are all human, and mistakes are inevitable. Start by treating yourself with kindness. Notice your inner critic and choose to speak to yourself with encouragement instead.
  • Boundaries: Saying “no” is a powerful tool. It helps you focus on what truly matters – your well-being and goals.
  • Embrace the Unknown: Step outside your comfort zone. It feels scary at first, but that’s okay! Growth happens beyond our comfort zone.

This journey of self-discovery is ongoing, a beautiful mess of exploration and growth. Remember, the right time to take care of yourself and chase your dreams is now. You are worthy, you have a purpose, and it’s time to embrace the amazing adventure that is your life!
